Over the last few months we have been driving around Devon looking for suitable locations. Today we headed out to Shute near Seaton in Devon to look at a derelict train station it fits the bill and glad to report the owner has been extremely helpful and positive.
We have also found a disused stretch of railway track near Kingsteignton in Devon, talks have begun with Network rail to try and obtain the relevant permissions. Watch this space.
Here are some photos from our travels. (Don't worry we have not trespassed the train tracks are no longer in use. No one was harmed during this process)!!
Robot World released today in USA and Canada with Sony entertainment.
Here it is in HMV West Edmonton Mall, Canada.
It is available in various stores and online.
With the script in a reasonable shape Neil has put that to one side to begin work on the cgi. It is back to the drawing board and new research begins to ensure the creation of a realistic cgi monster/creature. Neil is currently searching the web for ideas. Early drafts seem to favour a spider type creature much to Amanda's' dismay! but this may evolve in to a completely different form....hopefully!
Location scouting is picking up speed. Unfortunately we have had a few knock backs already. A major scene within the film is set in a police station specifically in the cell area and therefore we approached our local police force, Devon and Cornwall to see if there was any possibility of using any of their stations. This seemed like a possibility especially with Amanda on the team but unfortunately after several discussions permission has been declined. A big blow as now we need to try and find an alternative. With little budget a set is not an option so we have gone back to the drawing board.
Amanda heard of a police station that had been sold to a local development company. We have spoken to them and established the cell area is still there and are in the process of arranging a visit to the building to see if there is any scope to use that as a location.
Another possibility is the Exeter Castle that was once the Exeter Crown Court. We have attended a few functions there in the past and remembered the cells were transformed in to toilets. We phoned up and enquired about this area and were delighted to be told there were still some cells in existence that were untouched. We have been to look at the cells and there is some promise. Neil took numerous photos and will review them and the script to see if we could make that space work.
Exeter Castle have been extremely helpful and have restored the hope that we can get this film made!!
